Community Development &
Through years spent on the ground in Haiti, we discovered than many children who are considered orphans actually have living parents. However, due to the extreme poverty and darkness they pervades the country, these parents are often unable to house and feed their children. Children end up in orphanages, living with distant relatives, begging for food on the street, or worse, as a restavek – a child slave.
While we are deeply committed to raising the children God has given us at Alex’s House, we also want to be a part of the solution for preventing orphans. We do this by heavily investing in poor villages, offering village advancement with the light of Jesus through:
- water filtration systems & sanitation
- safe roofs for families
- micro loans
- village leadership
- medical care
As villages become places of safety, health, and progress, parents are able to work and provide for their children. Children are educated and given hope for the future. Families are preserved and another generation of misplaced or orphaned children is prevented.
